Amy's debut book Hidden Patrons: Women and Architectural Patronage in Georgian Britain is available to pre-order!
In an accessible, readable account, Hidden Patrons uncovers the role of women as important patrons and designers of architecture and interiors in eighteenth-century Britain and Ireland.
Amy published a chapter in Women and the Country House which explored the architectural achievements of the widowed Jemima Yorke, Marchioness Grey (1722-1797).
Jemima was an exceptional patroness who spent the last years of her life greatly improving her ancestral home, Wrest Park, as well as her London house.
Amy Boyington has written multiple articles for The Georgian, including this one which considers the contribution that Frances Boscawen (a noted bluestocking) made to the interiors of Hatchlands Park, her marital home in Surrey.
Amy's academic publication list includes papers which investigate the development of fountain design and technology in Islamic gardens 700–1700 CE through to the examination of Lady Leicester's architectural contribution to the completion of Holkham Hall, Norfolk, in the 1760s. The latter article is linked below.
